Theories

There are lots od different theories that can be used in films and short films, here are the main three ones:

Propps

Todorov's

Barthes

From this theory I will be taking the idea of a hero and princess, this is because these two characters fit well together as well as they are able to create a strong bond on the screen.

From the codes and conventions of a short film having few characters is a common trait as it is cheaper to have fewer actors as well as there being the lack of time to bond with the characters.

From Todorov's I will use the unconventional way, such as; there being a problem first - then the problem is found out by the characters - then they try to solve it but fail. I believe that this will be popular due to that this is not a common film narritve therefore it may gain the couristy of the audiance,

From this theory I like the idea of having a prop or location that has a smybolic meaning to them such as a church for location or a photo for props, I like this because it allows the audiance to realise that there are certain aspects that they can connect to as well.

The Three act

From this theory I am able to structure my short film properly as well as find the right ways to attract my target audiences.
