Also called cinematographer

A director of photography (DP) is someone who supervises the filming of movies, Ads (either on TV or Films), television series, or any other sort of filmed production. It is common to see this term and “cinematographer” used interchangeably, although this usage is not acceptable in all regions, as sometimes these jobs are actually quite distinct from each other. Essentially, the person is responsible for the look and feel of a piece on film.

Below is the trailer for Wally's movie the Dark Knight....

This the trailer for Waly's film The Dark Knight. during this traiker we saw some of the techniques that Wally uses in his films. During the trailer there were a few of black screens thus creating engima for the audiance, as well as this during the trailer there was a voice over (the Joker) allowing the audiance to know certain details. at 35s there is the use of explosions to empthersize the power that the Joker has as well as this at 39s there is a buring joker card this creates a foreshadowing.

I think that by having the black screens at certain points is a good way to create engima as well as having the voice as it adds a up power over the audiance, I may use them in my short film. However I did not like the close-ups on things that did not make sense such as the bike at 15s however in a short film these type of shorts will not work due to the lack of time, as filler shots they will aid but not when looking at the plot.
