Construction

 

In the construction process I used lots of different technology. Such as a camera to get the shots that I needed. The camera I used was a Cannon. I also used YouTube to find the right music for my short film. When editing the film I used the program Premier Pro, as this allows me edit all my shots together as well as add different editing techniques.

 

Cannon Camera

 

The Cannon Camera is effective in getting the shots I need as it is small and easy to handle, I can easily change the aperture as this allows me to decide on how much light I let into my shots (in the picture you can see the different type of aperture that I used or could of used) in addition I can focus the camera as well as this will allow me to focus on certain points that I would like. The advantages of the camera are that I can change certain parts to fit my need such as with the over explosion at the end of my short film, in addition the camera has a section that will allow me to add a mic therefore I am able to have better sound quality. However the disadvantages are that the camera is not very stable when trying to clear POV shots as it becomes all back wobbly therefore in the editing process I had to stabilise the shots.

 

Premier Pro

 

This program is used to edit different shots together as well as add some effects such as adding a tint. I used this program and the different editing sections in my film a lot as I was mainly experimenting with the different sections as a main part of my film is about experimenting with different sections. From this program I used different tints to change the positive or negative effect of the shots, fades to black or white to show the positive or negative ending to the shot, in addition I used different transitions between shots to add a more smooth effect the shots (I used this especially in the black and white flashbacks in my short film). The advantages of this program is that you can do just about anything I found this out due to me doing different experiments for my short film, in addition due to the different editing sections it means that the editor can do lots of different aspects that may appeal to certain audiences such as comedy making all their shots light whereas horror would make all their shot dark/darker. The disadvantages of the program is that it can take a long time to export if it is a long project and if there is a deadline the maker may not meet the deadline due to program in addition sometimes the system may not do what the editor wants or changes due to too many different editing techniques being add onto one shot therefore the program will be trying to do all the add-ons and it may result in a bad effect.

 

Research

 

With the research section I used lots of different technologies as well as different aspects within the technology. I used the internet to research both primary and secondary research, such as with the primary research I used SurvayMonkey whereas for my secondary research I used different blogs, articles and some social networking such as YouTube. I also used a site called Prezi to help present my work on my Wix site.

 

YouTube

 

YouTube is a video website where people can share different types of videos, from music to documentaries. The advantages of the site is that because there is a wide variety of videos it is easier to find videos or music that you need for whatever you are looking at in addition it easy to get the clip from the website. However the disadvantages of the site is that because there is so many video it is time consuming if you are either in decisive or cannot find what you are looking for, in addition if you want to use a piece of music however it belongs to a studio therefore permission is needed therefore they could take up more time as well as you may not gain permission therefore you will have to find what you need.

I used YouTube to find videos on certain aspects such as directors to evaluate short films as well gain ideas

 

SurvayMonkey

 

SurvayMonkey is a website where questionnaires can be created to find out information via a questionnaire. The advantages of this that you can share it to anyone via lots of different sites therefore you can gets lots of answers in addition you can get a variety of people answering the questionnaire, however the disadvantages are that people can lie about the answers therefore as a result the results will be false.  I used the site to find what my target audience would be for my short film.

 

Prezi

 

Prezi is a website used to present work on a PowerPoint like program, the site has different templates therefore the Prezi can be made to look like the maker wants. I used Prezi to look at different theories as well as codes and conventions to help back up the research that I have found. The advantages of Prezi are that; you can make it look like you want therefore it will help appeal to a certain audience, in addition you can use as may sli9des as you want to help convey the information across to the audience in addition it can them be used as an add-on to the Wix site, furthermore the site auto saves therefore work will not be lost. The disadvantages of the site is that can sometimes on work properly with other sites such as Wix this because of the it being an add on and not merging with the site.

 

Planning

 

For my planning I used Microsoft Word as well as my Wix Blog, as this allowed me to present my work and the different planning sections that I have completed.

 

Microsoft Word

 

This program is a simple one as it lets the writer write down what they need to help them to the planning, I used the program to do all the different tables on as I found it easier because on the table insert, in addition I used it for my script as the program already has the right type of font for how the text is to be set out. The advantages of this program is that it can be used for anything that will help the maker to finish the project, in addition you can also make the program look how you want therefore fitting in with the Wix site (below). The disadvantages of this program is that if you move the text onto a different site or program it can change by adding spaces or changing the font therefore if it was to look a certain way (such as with the script) you would have to change the text another disadvantage is that sometimes the program will not save therefore work maybe lost and it will become more time consuming.

 

Wix

 

Wix is a website where you can create your own websites from templates that the site gives you or you can start from scratch and create a new design, the websites allows me to create different sections so my work is presented properly as well as in a neatly fashion. The advantages of Wix are that; you can create any style that you want that will fit the project that I am currently doing, another advantage is that there are lots of ‘plug-ins’ that allow the website that you are creating to becomes more interact as well as appealing to different audiences in addition if you projects purpose is to explain something in detail you can different aspects to help the audience to understand such as adding a YouTube Video or an image. The disadvantages of Wix are that there are different options that allow to market the website more however these are have an extra cost and in addition the site can sometimes fail to ‘save’ or ‘publish’ the work on the website therefore work will be lost and it will becomes time consuming.

 

Evaluation

 

For the evaluation I will be using different programs, sites or camera. For my first question I will be using A Prezi for my first question as this will allow me to explain in detail the different things that I have done to my film (changing, challenging or using the short film codes and conventions). For my second question I have used a vlog as this will allow me to gain certain reactions to my film, in addition I have done a survey for the people to carry out when watching the film for me to understand the film form an audience point of view in addition I also did a focus session as this allowed me to ask questions about my film as well as gain a response from my target audience. For the third question I will be using a Prezi as this will allow me to place my poster and review onto the evaluation as well as on my Wix site meaning that I am able to evaluate my work as well as show the audience the work. For the final question I will use Word as this will allow me to explain the different technologies that I have used properly as well as giving my opinion, the advantages and disadvantage of the programs that I have used, by using Word it allow me to show that I have used the different programs and sites.
